LONG-DISTANCE TELEPHONE CALLS EFFECTIVE DATE: 02/01/96 STANDARD NO. 061 REVISED: 08/11/17 REPLACES: SOP Long Distance Telephone Calls 12-02.1- Rev. 01/01/03; Rev. 08/18/11 OBJECTIVE: To establish a policy that will allow Department personnel to make job-related long-distance phone calls. POLICY: It is the policy of the Homestead Police Department (HPD) to provide guidelines for employees to make long-distance phone calls. SCOPE: All employees of this Department shall be governed by the procedures set forth below. I. GENERAL: A. There are numerous occasions when Departmental personnel have the need to make long-distance phone calls. The Department has strived to make this process convenient without the loss of strict accountability. II. PROCEDURES: A. All long-distance phone calls to be charged to the City must be work-related and approved by a supervisor, prior to making the call. B. No long-distance phone-calls of a personal nature are to be made by any employee of this Department.
