TOM DaRé , CHIEF OF POLICE Professional Standards Division NUMBER: 2021-08 ISSUED: May 24 , 202 1 FOREIGN AGENCY 10851 REPORTS (IN CUSTODY) For all in custody CVC 10851 cases, when GGPD recovers an outside agency’s stolen vehicle, DAs will not file without the other agency’s report uploaded in EDC. Each shift shall follow the process below for 10851 in custody cases: 1. Call agency to ensure the report is ready and confirm email or fax number a. Document on the In Custody List b. If no answer: Document what agency you called, date, time, and your initials on the In Custody List. 2. Send the fax request: indicating our case is “an in-custody arrest” and provide the “date of arraignment”. 3. Call and follow up to confirm agency received the fax reque st a. Document on the In Custody List b. If you are unable to confirm receipt: i. Document the follow up on the In Custody List ii. Verbally pass on this information to the on -coming shift. 4. If no report is received within your shift or if you receive a “re -submit” response a. Call the agency and ask when the report will be ready. i. Document on the In Custody List individual’s name, date, time, and your initials. b. If no response was received i. Verbally pass on the information to the on -coming shift. On-coming Shift: 5. After verbal information is provided, pick up where your co -worker left off. Continue steps 1-4 until report is received. 6. If no report is received the day BEFORE court contact the CLO, via email and Cc: GGPD Records and Records Supervisors email. The CLO will provide assistance with obtaining the report. a. Document on the In Custody List 7. If no report is received by 0200 the DAY OF COURT a. Add a police filing note in EDC, outlining all attempts, including who you spoke with, dates, times and when the anticipated date we will expect the report. TRAINING BULLETIN Please note: Do not delete any comments from the In Custody List, these are needed for documentation purposes for annotating in EDC as a “police filing” note, indicating to the DA’s office we have done our due diligence.
