TODD ELGIN, CHIEF OF POLICE
Professional Standards Division NUMBER: 2018 -01
ISSUED: January 26, 2018
Permit Parking: Districts 131, 132 & 142
Recently, GGPD has been receiving phone calls regarding residential permit parking questions from homeowners in districts
131, 132, and 142. The residents are complaining that people attending the Anaheim Convention Center are parking on
Garden Grove residential streets to avoid paying a parking fee at the Convention Center. For many years, employees from
the City of Anaheim enforced perm it parking in Garden Grove because it directly re lated to the Convention Center. The City
of Anaheim is No Longer providing enforcement.
Effective immediately: If an officer is dispatched to a residence in Districts 131, 132, or 142 regarding an illegall y
parked vehicle without a parking permit, GGPD can take enforcement action. The officer should verify that the
vehicle does not belong to a homeowner or the guest of a resident where a permit could be obtained . If it is
registered out of the area and the officer has verified that there is no permit, it can be cited for 10.56.210(a) Permit
Parking , with a fine of $29.00 . Officers will not enforce parking permits in the city of Anaheim . Refer to the
jurisdictional map for clarification on city boundaries.
How can a GG resident obtain a permit?
Garden Grove residents living in the designated permit area can obtain free parking permits from the City of Anaheim. The
permits are generated on -line and can be obtained at https://www.paymycite.com/anaheim/parkingpermit.aspx . A temporary
permit can be printed out after filling out the short application.
The map on the following page shows the area that is directly related to Permit Parking around the convention center. If the
vehicle is parked out of the Permit Parking area indicated on the map, the municipal code does not apply and there is no
violation. Garden Grove employees will only conduct enforcement on Garden Grove streets.
Please be advised that with any vehicle designated “handicap” status is exempt and should not be cited for a
permit parking violation.
