Published with permission by Garden Grove Police DepartmentPolice Management Administrative Leave - 1Police Management Administrative Leave 1033.1 PURPOSE AND SCOPE The purpose of this Policy is to provide information and establish procedures for an Administrative Leave policy for full-time sworn Garden Grove Police Department management personnel. This will apply to all Garden Grove Police Department captains and lieutenants, and will be Administrative Leave hours separate to those hours provided by City Administrative Regulation Section 6.18, pages 176-178. 1033.2 POLICY This Administrative Leave program provides, at the discretion of the Chief of Police, all full- time sworn police managers and civilian managers with forty (40) hours of Administrative Leave to use for each calendar year, beginning on January 1. The employee has the entire calendar year in which to use these hours. 1033.3 USAGE The request to use these Administrative Leave hours must be approved by the Chief of Police or his designee. There is no limit on the number of these Administrative Leave hours that may be used during a pay period, provided that the Chief of Police or his designee agrees, and the employee does not exceed the maximum number of hours available for use. 1033.4 NEW EMPLOYEES Employees entering the ranks of a full-time sworn Garden Grove Police Department manager between January 1 and June 30 may be allowed to use up to forty (40) hours of these Administrative Leave hours during that year. Employees entering the ranks of a full-time sworn Garden Grove Police Department manager between July 1 and December 31 may be allowed to use up to twenty (20) hours of these Administrative Leave hours during that year. 1033.5 ADDITIONAL HOURS The Chief of Police has the sole discretion to grant or deny additional hours of these Administrative Leave hours. The Chief of Police also has the authority to grant additional hours at the time of hiring into the rank of sworn police management.
