PURPOSE: This Order provides information regarding the Department’s job announcement procedures. II. POLICY: To ensure that job announcements contain pertinent information regarding the duties and requirements for the position to be filled, the Gainesville Police Department shall forward position vacancy information to the City of Gainesville Human Resources Division. III. PROCEDURE: A. Job Announcements: 1. Liaison: The Personnel Unit shall supply the City of Gainesville Human Resources Department with a list of vacant positions within the Department. 2. Information: The Personnel Unit will ensure the job announcement for the existing vacancy contains the following: [CALEA 31.3.1] i. A description of the duties, responsibilities, requisite skills, educational level, and any other relevant minimum qualifications. [CALEA 31.3.1.a] ii. Job announcements for entry-level vacancies shall be advertised in at least one of the following methods: [CALEA 31.3.1.b] a. Electronic (computer, fax, etc.) b. Other media 3. The Department (or City) must advertise as an equal opportunity employer on all employment applications and recruitment advertisements. [CALEA 31.3.1.c] 4. Official application filing deadlines shall be advertised. [CALEA 31.3.1.d] 5. Job announcements are advertised using community service\n\n--- Page 2 ---\n\nGAINESVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT organizations and/or key leaders in the community. [CALEA 31.3.2] B. Contact with Applicants: The Department shall maintain contact with applicants from initial application to final employment disposition.
