PURPOSE: This Order establishes the City of Gainesville’s Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Plans. II. POLICY: To construct a work force that is as closely representative as possible of the work- eligible population of the City, the Gainesville Police Department shall be guided by the Department’s Affirmative Action, and City of Gainesville Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Plans. [CALEA 31.2.3] III. PROCEDURE: A. Affirmative Action Compliance: 1. Affirmative Action Plan: Shall be composed and maintained by members of the Personnel Unit and consist of the following elements: Employee Demographic Composition: A work force analysis will be conducted to identify the racial, ethnic and gender demographics of the Department’s staff. The results of the analysis will be the basis for the formulation of the Affirmative Action Plan. 2. Plan Compliance: In determining how to target the plan, the following will be identified by the Personnel Unit Commander/designee: i. Target goals ii. A statement of measurable objectives. iii. Strategies for achieving the above goals and objectives, including: a. Specific actions to be taken; and b. A timetable for implementation. 3. Review/Revision:\n\n--- Page 2 ---\n\nGAINESVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT i. The Affirmative Action Plan shall be reviewed semi-annually to evaluate progress towards objectives. ii. The Plan will be revised and reissued as needed. B. Equal Employment Opportunity: The City of Gainesville has an Equal Employment Plan which ensures equal employment conditions for minority persons and women. 1. It is the goal of the Chief of Police and the City of Gainesville that all individuals will be given equal opportunity for employment, regardless of race, sex, creed, color, age, religion, national origin, or physical impairment. 2. The Plan guarantees that all individuals are given equal opportunities for employment, regardless of race, gender, creed, color, age, religion, national origin, or physical impairment. 3. The Equal Opportunity Plan is located within the City’s Affirmative Action Plan. 4.
