PURPOSE: This Order sets forth the grievance procedures for members of the Gainesville Police Department. II. POLICY: To resolve differences between employees and their employer, grievance procedures have been established in the City of Gainesville’s collective bargaining agreements and Human Resources Policy and Administrative Procedure E-4. The applicability of particular grievance procedures to members of the Gainesville Police Department depends upon a member’s specific job classification. [CALEA 22.4.1] III. PROCEDURE: A. Grievance Procedure: Members who file a grievance shall follow the steps and requirements identified in any applicable collective bargaining agreement or Human Resources Policy and Administrative Procedure E-4. [CALEA 25.4.1 1, a-f] B. Coordination/Control of Grievance Records: The Gainesville Police Department shall maintain a records control system of all grievance-related documents involving Department members. [CALEA 22.4.2] 1. Department personnel in positions responsible for conducting steps in the grievance process shall submit copies of all grievance records to the Office of the Chief of Police. The Office of the Chief of Police shall store the grievance records in a central file, including the grievance, any supporting documents to the grievance, and any responses to the grievance. C. Annual Analysis: Annually, personnel in the Office of the Chief of Police will conduct an analysis of grievances filed by Department members, as well as supporting policies and practices, to be reviewed by the Chief of Police.
