2. The Chief will decide how many shadowing opportunities are created in each Bureau based
on the following factors:

ii. Interest in assignment.
.
B. Selection process: A selection process will be held as needed for opportunities to shadow
throughout the Department. The following process shall be followed:
1. Eligibility:
i. A member must be with the Department for a minimum of two years to be eligible for
this program.
ii. A member is eligible to shadow once every two years.

may require several types of police reports from the member to be reviewed.)
5. A department wide three (3) person committee, made up of a diverse group, will determine an
eligibility list for each Division. The committee will be selected by the Chief and/or Designee.
Committee members will serve for one year at a time.
i. The committee will consist of members at the rank of Sergeant or above, or the civilian
equivalent.
ii. The committee will consist of a member of the Investigations Bureau, the Operations
Bureau, and a member of the Administrative Bureau.

jurisdictions; and availability of outside resources. [CALEA 33.8.1]
