PURPOSE: The purpose of this general order is to establish guidelines for officers when requested to verify the status of defendants who are placed on house arrest and are being electronically monitored by the Alachua County Court Services Department. II. POLICY: In cooperation with the Alachua County Department of Court Services, the Gainesville Police Department will provide a law enforcement response to verify house arrest and electronic monitoring violations that occur in our jurisdiction. III. PROCEDURE: A. Coordination: If a house arrest electronic monitoring violation occurs after normal business hours or on the weekends (for offenders living within the City only), a Court Services Pre-trial Officer will conduct an initial investigation to determine if law enforcement response is required. If required, information regarding the defendant, i.e. name, date of birth, height, weight, along with any other identifiers, will be provided to GPD Communications as well as the nature of the violation and requested law enforcement response. B. Officer’s Response: Upon arriving at the defendant’s address, Officers are to take the following action: i. Determine if the defendant is home or not. ii. Determine if the defendant has tampered with or removed the ankle transmitter. iii. Determine if the defendant has absconded from supervision and/or disconnected the field monitoring device, rendering it inoperable. iv. Contact the Court Services representative by the supplied phone number, or via the 24 hour electronic monitoring emergency contact number of 352-213-3008.\n\n--- Page 2 ---\n\nGAINESVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT C. Follow up: The Alachua County Department of Court Services will take the information provided on the online form and follow up filing any charges.
