1. It is important, to the community and department employees, that the professional,
ethical, legal, and competency standards of the Police Department are maintained.
It is therefore important that appropriate disciplinary action be initiated against any
employee who breaches these standards. It is equally important that all employees
be protected against inaccurate allegations of impropriety. It is the policy of the
Police Department to achieve these goals through effective internal investigations.
