2.4 10.05???????????????????? PRESS RELATIONS Employees shall extend cooperation to members of the news media and refer them to an appropriate staff member. A situation with the news media which cannot be resolved shall be referred to the Chiefs Office. 2.410.10????????????????????? PREFERENTIAL TREATMENT Preferential treatment shall not be extended to any representative of the news media. 2.4l0.15?????????????????????? USING NEWS MEDIA An employee shall not, in an official capacity, solicit the aid of the news media for personal gain. 2.410.20?????????????????????? PHOTGRAPHING PRISONERS WITHIN DEPARTMENTAL FACILITIES Photographing by the news media of any individual who is in the custody of this Department, will not be authorized within the confines of the Florida City Police Department facility, except on authorization of the Chief of Police. When escorting a prisoner outside departmental facilities, photographing by the news media will not be restricted. 2.410.25?????????????????????? RELEASING PHOTOGRAPHS Representatives of the news media may be provided photographs by the Chief?s Office when authorized by competent authority and the release will not jeopardize an investigation or be detrimental to the Department. 2.410.30?????????????????????? RELEASING NAMES An employee shall not release the name of a deceased person until identification has been verified and an earnest effort has been made to notify the nearest relative. 11/20/25, 2:38 PM FLORIDA CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT 2.410.35?????????????????????? INFORMATION THAT MAY BE RELEASED The victim?s name, address, age, sex, race, occupation, and nearest relative; except sex offenses, for which only age, race, and general location of the incident may be released. The name, address and physical description of a suspect being sought for a crime. Weapon used. Amount of money or property taken (at the discretion of the investigating officer) Type of force used. Injuries to the victim or suspect. Facts and essential circumstances of arrests of incidents, including charges. The existing procedures regarding juvenile offenders will be followed. Events occurring in the in the judicial process which are not privileged information. Names of witnesses may be released at the discretion of the investigator, except for Class I crimes. Information will be released after the approval of the Chief of Police. 2.410.40????????????????????? INFORMATION THAT SHALL NOT BE RELEASED Name and address of victims of sex offenses and exact location of the incident. Statement made by subject after arrest. Details of a subject?s previous arrest record. This is imperative so as not to influence pending judicial proceedings. Name and addresses of juveniles taken into custody, unless authorized by the Juvenile Court. Home addresses of victims of Class I crimes, unless the crime occurred at that location. 11/20/25, 2:38 PM FLORIDA CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT Testimony presented to a grand jury. Identification of Informants (unless required by law). Departmental Confidential Information The Chief of Police will be contacted immediately upon such request.
