DIRECTIVE
TITLE: PERSONNEL ALLOCATION EFFECTIVE DATE: JANUARY 1,
2001
STANDARDS: 17.01M
THE PROPER ALLOCATION AND DISTRIBUTION OF POLICE PERSONNEL,
INCLUDING CIVILIANS THROUGHOUT THE DEPARTMENT IS OF
PARAMOUNT IMPORTANCE.? OVER OR UNDER STAFFING CAN BE
DETRIMENTAL TO THE EFFICIENT OPERATION OF THE ENTIRE
DEPARTMENT.? ALLOCATION AND DISTRIBUTION SHALL BE BASED ON
ANALYSIS OF WORKLOAD DEMANDS WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT.
EACH UNIFORM PATROL SHIFT SHALL BE STAFFED BY AT LEAST THREE
OFFICERS AND ONE DISPATCHER.? ONE OF THE THREE OFFICERS SHALL
BE DESIGNATED BY THE OPERATIONS COMMANDER, OR DESIGNEE? AS
THE SUPERVISOR.? A POLICE OFFICER, THROUGH NECESSITY, MAY BE
DESIGNATED AS THE DISPATCHER SHOULD CIVILIAN PERSONNEL BE
UNAVAILABLE, THOUGH THIS SHOULD ONLY BE AS A LAST RESORT.
IT IS THROUGH THESE STAFFING GUIDELINES THAT THE FLORIDA CITY
POLICE DEPARTMENT WILL ENSURE CONTINUOUS RESPONSE
AVAILABILITY WITHIN ITS JURISDICTION. [CFA 17.01M]
