I. POLICY
The Department has established guidelines for packaging evidence and property in order to
assure its integrity through the chain of custody. Police employees are responsible for
evidence in the chain of custody whenever such evidence is in their possession. Police
employees shall ensure that items are properly packaged, that the Evidence/Property
Voucher is filled out completely, inserted where the Property Receipt is, and that a Voucher
accompanies the submitted evidence.
