I. INTERVIEWING PROCEDURE II. TRAINING PURPOSE: The purpose of this procedure is to establish guidelines when interviewing victims, suspects, or defendants diagnosed with autism or an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). POLICY: It shall be the policy of the Coconut Creek Police Department (CCPD) to make a good faith effort that, upon request and in accordance with Florida State Statute (FSS) 943.0439, a psychiatrist, psychologist, mental health counselor, special education instructor, clinical social worker, or related professional is present at all interviews of an autistic individual.
