II. MAINTENANCE OF PERSONAL V. TRAINING PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT PURPOSE: The purpose of this procedure is to establish guidelines for the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). POLICY: It is the policy of the Coconut Creek Police Department (CCPD) to provide its employees with a safe and healthy environment. The guidelines of this program are designed to help reduce employee exposure to occupational contaminants. The primary objective is to prevent over exposure to these contaminants. This is accomplished as much as feasible by accepted engineering and work practice control measures. The agency has established guidelines to enhance the capacity to effectively deal with occupational contaminants by supplying and providing for the maintenance of PPE by emergency response personnel. It is the responsibility of every supervisor to ensure personnel are protected to the best of their ability at all times. This policy will not preclude or supersede City of Coconut Creek Administrative Orders or related Human Resources and Risk Management Policies and Procedures. DEFINITIONS:
