TITLE: PARK RESPONSE UNIT (PRU)
PURPOSE: The purpose of this directive is to establish guidelines and procedures for the
Park Response Unit (PRU).
SCOPE: This directive is applicable to all employees assigned to the Park Response Unit
(PRU).
POLICY: It is the policy of the Department to enforce all state, county, and city laws,
including the rules and regulations as outlined in Section 29-21 of the City of Doral Code
of Ordinances. Employees shall assist the City of Doral Code Enforcement officials and
the City of Doral Parks and Recreation employees in upholding regulations within city-
owned and/or city-operated parks, recreation, nature, and open space facilities to ensure
the safety of all visitors and the protection of park resources.
Employees have full authority to enforce all laws and regulations governing the use of city
parks and recreation facilities. This includes the authority to issue citations for violations,
remove individuals from park property for non-compliance, and make arrests when
necessary.
DEFINITIONS:
Park Property: All areas, buildings, locations, and facilities defined in Section 29-19 of the
City of Doral Code of Ordinances, including parks, wayside parks, parkways, playgrounds,
recreation fields, museums, auditoriums, ranges and buildings, lakes, streams, canals,
lagoons, waterways, water areas, nature trails, nature center, fishing areas and all public
service facilities conducted on grounds, buildings, and structures in the city which are
under the control of or assigned for upkeep, maintenance or operation by the parks and
recreation department.
Park Ranger: City employee responsible for monitoring park activities, providing
information to visitors, and assisting in the enforcement of park rules and regulations.
Park Response Unit (PRU): Doral Police Department unit composed of sworn and
non-sworn employees to provide law enforcement and public safety services within City of
Doral parks and recreational areas.
