Published with permission by Buena Park Police DepartmentLicense to Carry a Firearm - 1License to Carry a Firearm 210.1 PURPOSE AND SCOPE The Chief of Police is given the statutory discretion to issue to Buena Park residents a license to carry a concealed firearm. This policy provides a written process for the application and issuance of such licenses. Pursuant to Penal Code § 12050.2, this policy shall be made accessible to the public. Nothing in this policy shall be construed to require the Chief of Police to issue a Concealed Weapons Permit at any time. The issuance of any such license shall only be pursuant to the terms and conditions of this policy and applicable law. Nor shall anything in this policy preclude the Chief of Police from entering into an agreement with the Sheriff to process all applications and licenses for the carrying of concealed weapons. Penal Code § 12050(g). 210.1.1 ACCREDITATION STANDARDS This policy pertains to the following CALEA Standards: N/A 210.2 APPLICATION OF POLICY The Chief of Police has entered into an agreement with the Orange County Sheriff's Department to process all applications and licenses for the carrying of concealed weapons (Penal Code § 12050(g)). Any resident requesting a license to carry a concealed weapon will be referred to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.
