10.8 EXECUTING AN ARREST: A. To execute any arrest, deputies must identify themselves as law enforcement officers and advise subjects they are under arrest. To legally effect the arrest, physical touching is not needed. B. Deputies not in uniform should display their badge of authority and announce they are a deputy, safety permitting. C. If safety is a consideration, notice of the reason for arrest need not be given until the suspect is in custody. When the suspect is safely in custody, the suspect should be advised of the reason for arrest. D. Communications will be advised of the arrest when the suspect is safely in custody. Uniformed patrol deputies will advise their supervisors. E. Adults arrested and delivered to the custody of the Department of Detention will be fingerprinted and photographed before their release. F. If a prisoner is on US Military active duty, the arresting deputy will request booking deputies to notify the prisoner's commanding officer.
