I. PURPOSE:
The purpose of this departmental standards directive is to provide guidelines for employees in the use of
confidential informants (CI) while conducting investigations, collecting intelligence information, and other
investigative functions. This departmental standards directive shall also establish policies and procedures
regarding the systems in place to catalog and document informant use, and the distribution of CI funds.
