Si alguien se entera de un telegrama que no era para él, está haciendo algo malo. También es ilegal abrir cartas o mensajes sellados que son para otra persona.
Es como cuando en una reunión familiar alguien lee en voz alta un mensaje privado que encontró, sin que la persona que lo envió lo haya permitido.
Imagina que Juan trabaja en una empresa de mensajería y un día ve un telegrama dirigido a su vecino. Si decide leerlo y contarle a sus amigos lo que dice, estaría rompiendo la ley. También si su compañero de trabajo, Pedro, abre una carta sellada que recibió equivocadamente, está cometiendo un delito.
Las violaciones pueden resultar en un delito menor, que conlleva multas o penas menores.
RCW 9.73.010 - Divulging telegram Every person who shall wrongfully obtain or attempt to obtain, any knowledge of a telegraphic message, by connivance with the clerk, operator, messenger or other employee of a telegraph company, and every clerk, operator, messenger or other employee of such company who shall wilfully divulge to any but the person for whom it was intended, any telegraphic message or dispatch intrusted to him for transmission or delivery, or the nature or contents thereof, or shall wilfully refuse, neglect or delay duly to transmit or deliver the same, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor. RCW 9.73.020 - Opening sealed letter Every person who shall wilfully open or read, or cause to be opened or read, any sealed message, letter or telegram intended for another person, or publish the whole or any portion of such a message, letter or telegram, knowing it to have been opened or read without authority, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.
Lo mejor es devolverlo a la empresa de mensajería o entregárselo a la persona correcta. No debes abrirlo ni leerlo.
