Explicación Simple

Si un camión o vehículo pesa más de lo permitido, el dueño tiene que pagar una multa. Cuanto más pesado sea el vehículo, más alta será la multa que tendrá que pagar.

Es como si llevaras una mochila muy pesada a la escuela; si la sobrecargas, te cuesta cargarla y puedes romperla. Lo mismo pasa con los vehículos que exceden su peso permitido.

Ejemplo Práctico

Imagina que Juan, un conductor de camión, lleva una carga de 15,000 libras cuando el límite es de 12,000. Al ser detenido, le imponen una multa de 30 centavos por cada libra extra. Esto significa que Juan tendrá que pagar $900 por exceder el peso permitido.

Penalidades

Las multas varían desde 1 centavo hasta 30 centavos por libra, dependiendo del exceso de peso.

Va. Code § 46.2-1135 - (Contingent effective date -- see note*) Liquidated damages for violation of weight limits. A. Any person violating any weight limit as provided in this chapter or in any permit issued pursuant to Article 18 (§ 46.2-1139 et seq.) of this chapter by the Department or its designee or by local authorities pursuant to this chapter shall be assessed liquidated damages.
