No puedes usar en tu carro cosas que estén rotas o sean peligrosas. Si te detienen y pruebas que lo arreglaste antes de la fecha del juicio, pueden dejar pasar la multa.

Es como cuando tratas de cocinar con una olla rota; podría causar un desastre en la cocina. Usar un carro con equipo defectuoso es igual de peligroso.

Imagina que Juan tiene un faro de su coche que no funciona. Si lo para la policía y descubre que el faro está roto, podría multarlo. Sin embargo, si Juan lo arregla y presenta prueba antes de su cita en la corte, la multa podría ser cancelada.

Penalidades

La corte puede cancelar la multa si demuestras que arreglaste el problema antes de la audiencia.

Va. Code § 46.2-1003 - Illegal use of defective and unsafe equipment. A. It shall be unlawful for any person to use or have as equipment on a motor vehicle operated on a highway any device or equipment mentioned in § 46.2-1002 which is defective and in an unsafe condition. B. For any summons issued for a violation of this section, the court may, in its discretion, dismiss the summons, where proof of compliance with this section is provided to the court on or before the court date. C. No law-enforcement officer shall stop a motor vehicle for a violation of this section.
