Imagina que Ana, de 70 años, vive sola y necesita ayuda con sus quehaceres. Su hijo, Carlos, se ofrece a cuidar de ella. Sin embargo, Carlos la ignora y no le trae comida, lo que se considera negligencia según esta ley.

El abuso incluye acciones como hacerles daño emocional, retener su libertad o destruir sus pertenencias. También se incluye el maltrato verbal y sexual.
Un cuidador puede ser cualquier persona o entidad que se encargue del bienestar de un adulto mayor o con discapacidad, ya sea de forma voluntaria, mediante contrato o por orden judicial.
La explotación ocurre cuando alguien toma o controla el dinero o propiedades de un adulto mayor con la intención de defraudarlo.
