Explicación Simple

Si un oficial recibe una orden judicial, tiene que cumplirla de inmediato y regresar con un informe. Si no lo hace, puede perder dinero. También, si alguien no se presenta como jurado cuando se le llama, también pierde dinero.

Es como cuando tu profesor te dice que entregues un trabajo para mañana. Si no lo entregas, te pueden quitar puntos. Los oficiales y jurados tienen que hacer su parte para que todo funcione bien.

Imagina que Juan, un sheriff, recibe una orden para ir a un lugar específico a una hora determinada. Si Juan no va y no le informa al juez sobre su ausencia, tendrá que pagar 20 dólares. Igualmente, si María es llamada para ser jurado y no se presenta, también tendrá que pagar esa misma cantidad.

Penalidades

20 dólares de multa para oficiales y jurados que no cumplan con sus obligaciones sin excusa válida.

SECTION 17-7-130. Execution and return of warrant; officer or juror subject to penalty for failure to perform. Any constable or sheriff to whom such warrant shall come shall forthwith execute the warrant and repair unto the place at the time therein mentioned and make return of the warrant, with his proceedings thereon, to the coroner that granted it. Every constable or sheriff failing to perform the duty by such warrant required of him or failing to return it as aforesaid shall forfeit and pay the sum of twenty dollars, if without reasonable excuse, to be recovered by action. Each and every person summoned and warned as aforesaid to be a juror and failing to appear and act as such juror shall also forfeit and pay the sum of twenty dollars, if without reasonable excuse, to be recovered by action.
