No puedes tratar de convencer a un jurado de cómo decidir un caso, ya sea hablando con ellos o enviándoles mensajes. Si lo haces, puedes meterte en problemas y enfrentar multas o cárcel.

Es como si alguien intentara cambiar tu decisión sobre qué película ver, hablándote constantemente de una película específica. Al final, eso puede hacerte sentir incómodo y puede que no quieras hablar más sobre el tema.

Imagina que Ana está en un juicio como jurado. Juan, un amigo de la familia de la persona acusada, le envía un mensaje preguntándole cómo va el juicio y le sugiere que piense en lo bueno que es el acusado. Ana podría sentirse presionada y eso podría llevar a Juan a tener problemas legales por intentar influir en su decisión.

Penalidades

SECTION 16-9-350. Attempting to influence juror by written or oral communication; communications authorized by court not prohibited. Any person who attempts personally or through third parties to influence the action or decision of any grand or petit juror of any court in this State or any prospective juror, upon any issue or matter which is or may be pending before such juror or before the jury of which he is or may become a member, by writing or sending him any written communication or making any oral communication relating to such issue or matter, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be fined not more than five hundred dollars or imprisoned not more than six months, or both. Nothing in this section shall be construed to prohibit the communication of a request to appear before the grand jury, or other communication authorized by the court.
