Cuando cometes una infracción de tránsito, se te asignan puntos en tu licencia. Si no cometes más infracciones durante un año, perderás algunos de esos puntos.
Es como si tuvieras un frasco de canicas; cada vez que cometes una falta, pones una canica dentro. Si no haces nada malo durante un tiempo, puedes sacar algunas canicas de vuelta.
Imagínate que Juan recibe dos multas por exceso de velocidad y le asignan cuatro puntos. Si durante el siguiente año no comete más infracciones, al final del año se le quitarán tres puntos, quedando con un solo punto.
Las infracciones pueden resultar en la suspensión de la licencia si se acumulan demasiados puntos.

No recibir la carta no evita que te suspendan la licencia si tienes suficientes puntos acumulados. Es importante estar al tanto de tu registro de conducir.
Tus puntos se eliminan a razón de tres puntos por cada 12 meses sin infracciones. Si mantienes un registro limpio, podrás reducir tus puntos con el tiempo.
Si llegas a cero puntos y te mantienes así por un año, cualquier nuevo punto que acumules se considerará como si fuera la primera vez.
