Explicación Simple

Si te suspenden el permiso para manejar porque cometiste una infracción, cuando lo recuperes, tendrás cinco puntos en tu récord. Si cometes más infracciones antes de recuperarlo, esos puntos se suman a los cinco.

Es como si te castigaran y, al volver a casa, te dijeran que tienes que hacer cinco tareas antes de salir de nuevo. Si durante el castigo hiciste más travesuras, esas tareas se suman.

Ejemplo Práctico

Imagina que Juan, un joven de 22 años, pierde su licencia por manejar ebrio. Después de cumplir un tiempo de suspensión, se le restauran sus privilegios, pero le dicen que ahora tiene cinco puntos en su récord. Si, antes de recuperar su licencia, Juan recibe otra multa por exceso de velocidad, esos puntos se suman a los cinco que ya tiene.

Penalidades

Si acumulas demasiados puntos, puedes enfrentar una nueva suspensión de tu licencia.

75 Pa.C.S. 1545 - Restoration Of Operating Privilege Upon the restoration of any person's operating privilege which has been suspended or revoked pursuant to this subchapter or pursuant to Chapter 38 (relating to driving after imbibing alcohol or utilizing drugs), such person's record shall show five points, except that any additional points assessed against the person since the date of the last violation resulting in the suspension or revocation shall be added to such five points unless the person has served an additional period of suspension or revocation pursuant to section 1544(a) (relating to additional period of revocation or suspension). This section shall not apply to section 1533 (relating to suspension of operating privilege for failure to respond to citation) or to 18 Pa.C.S. § 6310.4 (relating to restriction of operating privileges). (b) Transmitting department action to state of residence.--When a nonresident's operating privilege is suspended or revoked, the department shall forward a certified copy of the record of such action to the motor vehicle administrator in the state wherein such person resides if there is a reciprocity agreement with the other state.
