Explicación Simple

Si alguien pierde un caso y quiere que un juez lo revise, puede apelar. Si la otra persona también quiere apelar, puede hacerlo aunque ya haya pasado el tiempo normal para hacerlo.

Es como si en un partido de fútbol, un jugador hace un gol y el equipo contrario pide que se revise la jugada. Aunque el tiempo se haya acabado, si el árbitro lo permite, pueden revisar la jugada.

Ejemplo Práctico

Imagina que Juan ganó un juicio contra Pedro, pero Pedro cree que el juez se equivocó. Pedro puede apelar la decisión, y si Juan también quiere hacerlo, puede presentar su apelación aunque ya haya pasado el plazo habitual para hacerlo.

(f) Cross appeals.--An appellee may be permitted by general rules or rules of court to take an appeal within the time limited by rule from an order from which another party has taken a timely appeal, notwithstanding the fact that the time otherwise limited by this section has expired. Saved from Suspension.Pennsylvania Rule of Civil Procedure for District Justices No. 1082, as amended April 25, 1979, provided that section 5571(b), (c)(4) and (f) shall not be deemed suspended or affected. Rules 1001 through 1082 relate to appellate proceedings with respect to judgments and other decisions of justices of the peace in civil matters.
