Esta ley dice que las personas tienen el derecho de no participar en abortos si no quieren, ya sea porque lo creen incorrecto o por motivos personales. También prohíbe que se les castigue o discrimine por esa decisión.

Es como cuando decides no comer algo porque no te gusta o te hace sentir mal. Nadie debería obligarte a comerlo o hacerte sentir mal por no quererlo.

Imagina que Ana es enfermera y no quiere ayudar en un aborto porque va en contra de sus creencias. Gracias a esta ley, no puede ser despedida ni sufrir penalizaciones por negarse a participar en ese procedimiento.

(d) Right of conscience.--It is the further public policy of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to respect and protect the right of conscience of all persons who refuse to obtain, receive, subsidize, accept or provide abortions including those persons who are engaged in the delivery of medical services and medical care whether acting individually, corporately or in association with other persons; and to prohibit all forms of discrimination, disqualification, coercion, disability or imposition of liability or financial burden upon such persons or entities by reason of their refusing to act contrary to their conscience or conscientious convictions in refusing to obtain, receive, subsidize, accept or provide abortions. 18 Pa.C.S. 1989 - Amendment 1988 Amendment.Act 31 amended the def. of "medical emergency" and added the def. of "physician."
