Explicación Simple

Cuando alguien es acusado de un delito, hay reglas sobre cómo se les informa. Si están en prisión, se les envía una carta especial; si están bajo supervisión, se les envía a su dirección conocida.

Es como si un entrenador tuviera que avisar a un jugador que se perdió un partido. Si el jugador está en casa, le manda un mensaje por correo; si está en el campo, le entrega la noticia en persona.

Imagina que Juan fue acusado de un delito y está en prisión. El fiscal le envía una carta en un sobre que dice 'Correo Legal' para notificarle sobre su caso. Si Juan estuviera bajo supervisión, la carta iría a su última dirección conocida.

ORS 133.717 Provision of notice or order to defendant ORS 133.717 Provision of notice or order to defendant Text Annotations When a provision of ORS 133.705 (Definitions for ORS 133.705 to 133.717) to 133.717 (Provision of notice or order to defendant) requires a district attorney or the court to provide written notice or an order to the defendant and the defendant: (1) Is incarcerated for any offense in a Department of Corrections institution, the notice must be sent by regular United States mail in an envelope prominently displaying the words “Legal Mail.” (2) Is supervised by a supervisory authority for any offense, the notice must be sent by regular United States mail to the defendant’s last-known address on record with the supervisory authority. (3) Is no longer supervised by a supervisory authority, the notice must be sent by certified mail to the defendant’s last-known address.
