Si tienes un arma y no deberías tenerla, puedes entregarla a la policía sin que te castigen. Solo necesitas decirles que tienes el arma y dónde está, y entregarla sin que te estén arrestando.

Es como cuando decides devolver un libro a la biblioteca después de haberlo tenido más tiempo del permitido. Si lo devuelves antes de que te atrapen, no te cobran multas.

A surrender is not voluntary if it occurs when the person is taken into custody or during a pursuit or attempt to take the person into custody, under circumstances indicating that the surrender is made under threat of force.
