Explicación Simple

Si tienes un accidente y hay daños, a veces se puede evitar que te suspendan la licencia si demuestras que ya resolviste los problemas con los otros involucrados. El comisionado de vehículos decide si es justo no suspender tu licencia.

Imagina que Juan choca su auto con el de María. Si Juan paga por los daños de María antes de que se tome una decisión sobre su licencia, podría evitar que le suspendan la licencia. Sin embargo, si María no está satisfecha o no se llega a un acuerdo, la situación puede complicarse.

all claims for injuries or damages resulting from the accident; (5) If, prior to the date that the Commissioner would otherwise suspend the license or the nonresident's operating privilege under G.S. 20-279.5, there shall be filed with the Commissioner evidence satisfactory to him that the person who would otherwise be required to file security has in any manner settled the claims of the other persons involved in the accident and if the Commissioner determines that, considering the circumstances of the accident and the settlement, the purposes of this Article and of protection of operators and owners of other motor vehicles are best accomplished by not requiring the posting of security or the suspension of the license.
