Si alguien daña una casa, iglesia o cerca de forma intencional y sin quemar, puede meterse en problemas. Dependiendo del costo de los daños, la persona podría enfrentar multas o incluso cárcel.
Es como si alguien rompiera la ventana de tu auto: si el daño es pequeño, puede que solo tenga que pagar una multa. Pero si causa muchos problemas, podría tener que enfrentar serios castigos.
Imagina que Juan decide pintar grafitis en la pared de una iglesia. Si el costo de reparar el daño es de $4,000, podría ser acusado de un delito menor. Pero si el daño asciende a $6,000, podría enfrentar cargos más graves y una posible condena.
Si el daño es menor a $5,000, es un delito menor; si es mayor, es un delito grave.
§ 14-144. Injuring houses, churches, fences and walls. If any person shall, by any other means than burning or attempting to burn, unlawfully and willfully demolish, destroy, deface, injure or damage any of the houses or other buildings mentioned in Article 15 (Arson and Other Burnings) of this Chapter; or shall by any other means than burning or attempting to burn unlawfully and willfully demolish, pull down, destroy, deface, damage or injure any church, uninhabited house, outhouse or other house or building not mentioned in such article; or shall unlawfully and willfully burn, destroy, pull down, injure or remove any fence, wall or other enclosure, or any part thereof, surrounding or about any yard, garden, cultivated field or pasture, or about any church or graveyard, or about any factory or other house in which machinery is used, every person so offending shall be punished as follows: (1) If the damage is five thousand dollars ($5,000) or less, the person is guilty of a Class 2 misdemeanor. (2) If the damage is more than five thousand dollars ($5,000), the person is guilty of a Class I felony. Aunque sea accidental, podrías ser responsable de los daños y enfrentar una multa o tener que pagar reparaciones.
