2B:9-1. Effect of Abolition of Particular Courts. a. Where any court has been or is abolished: 1. Its property shall be the property of the court succeeding to its jurisdiction; 2. Its pending cases shall be cases of the court succeeding to its jurisdiction and thereafter shall be treated in the same manner as if originally brought in the court to which they are transferred; 3. Its records shall be disposed of in the manner determined by the Supreme Court. b. A judgment of a court which has been abolished may be enforced in the court to which its jurisdiction has been transferred, but no abolition of any court or transfer to another court shall change the effect of a judgment of that court in any way. c. No abolition of any court or any transfer of operations, management, or recordkeeping duties shall affect the position, title, compensation or rights under Civil Service laws of any employee of the courts or of any other government employee whose position included performance of work for the courts. To the extent compatible with efficient administration of the courts, employees who performed work for abolished courts shall be transferred to perform equivalent functions in existing courts. d. Any reference in a statute, ordinance or regulation to a court which has been abolished shall be given effect as if the reference were to the court to which the jurisdiction of the abolished court has been transferred.
