Un adulto vulnerable es alguien que necesita ayuda porque no puede cuidar de sí mismo. Esto puede ser por una enfermedad o por no poder tomar decisiones claras.
Es como cuando un niño pequeño no puede cruzar la calle solo y necesita que un adulto lo ayude. Así, algunos adultos necesitan ayuda para cuidarse.
Imagina a Juan, un hombre de 70 años que vive solo y tiene problemas de memoria. No puede recordar cuándo debe comer o tomar sus medicamentos. Por eso, su hija lo ayuda a asegurarse de que esté bien cuidado, lo que lo hace un adulto vulnerable.
(2) receives services at or from a facility required to be licensed to serve adults under sections245A.01to245A.15, except that a person receiving outpatient services for treatment of chemical dependency or mental illness, or one who is committed as a sexual psychopathic personality or as a sexually dangerous person under chapter 253B, is not considered a vulnerable adult unless the person meets the requirements of clause (4); (3) receives services from a home care provider required to be licensed under sections144A.43to144A.482; or from a person or organization that exclusively offers, provides, or arranges for personal care assistance services under the medical assistance program as authorized under sections256B.0625, subdivision 19a,256B.0651to256B.0654, and256B.0659; or (4) regardless of residence or whether any type of service is received, possesses a physical or mental infirmity or other physical, mental, or emotional dysfunction: (i) that impairs the individual's ability to provide adequately for the individual's own care without assistance, including the provision of food, shelter, clothing, health care, or supervision; and (ii) because of the dysfunction or infirmity and the need for assistance, the individual has an impaired ability to protect the individual from maltreatment. 1995 c 229 art 2 s 2;2009 c 79 art 6 s 19;2014 c 262 art 4 s 9; art 5 s 6;2016 c 158 art 1 s 202,203 Official Publication of the State of MinnesotaRevisor of Statutes
Se considera un adulto vulnerable a alguien que no puede cuidar de sí mismo debido a problemas físicos o mentales, o que recibe ciertos servicios de asistencia.
Recibir servicios de un hogar de cuidado, o de un centro que ayuda a personas con problemas mentales o de adicción puede hacer que alguien se considere vulnerable.
Si una persona tiene dificultades para cuidarse y protegerse de abusos, también puede ser clasificada como un adulto vulnerable.
