MCL 333.17064 - Applicant for licensure as physician's assistant; examination required; waiver; nature of examination; use of national examination; discrimination prohibited; reciprocity; investigation; additional documentation or information Sec. 17064. (1) To determine whether an applicant for initial licensure has the appropriate level of skill and knowledge as required by this part, the task force shall require the applicant to submit to an examination which shall include those subjects the general knowledge of which is commonly and generally required of a graduate of an accredited physician's assistants' program in the United States. The task force may waive the examination requirement for a graduate of an approved program if the applicant has taken a national examination and achieved a score acceptable to the task force as demonstrating the level of skill and knowledge required by this part. The task force may waive the examination for an applicant who is licensed, certified, registered, approved, or otherwise legally recognized as a physician's assistant in another state, when the task force determines that the other state has qualifications, including completion of a national or state approved examination for physician's assistants, that are substantially equivalent to those established by this part. (2) The nature of an examination shall be determined by the task force and may include the use and acceptance of national examinations where appropriate. The use of examinations or the requirements for successful completion shall not permit discriminatory treatment of applicants. (3) The task force shall provide for the recognition of the certification or experience consistent with this part acquired by physician's assistants in other states who wish to practice in
