Es como un grupo de amigos decidiendo si deben ayudar a otro amigo a hacer frente a un problema. Necesitan hablar y asegurarse de que hay una buena razón para actuar.
Imagina que Juan es acusado de robar en una tienda. Un gran jurado, formado por 15 personas, se reúne para escuchar evidencia. Si deciden que hay suficientes pruebas, pueden recomendar que Juan sea juzgado.
MCL 767.11 - Grand jury; size; foreman, appointment Sec. 11. There shall be no more than 17 persons nor less than 13 persons sworn on any grand jury; and after such jurors have been impaneled and have received their charge from the court, they shall retire with the officer appointed to attend them and before they proceed to discharge the duties of their office, the court shall appoint 1 of their number to be foreman and the clerk shall record the same. Un gran jurado debe tener entre 13 y 17 personas.
Si el líder del gran jurado se ausenta o se retira, otro miembro del jurado será nombrado como nuevo líder.
