Si un joven de 14 a 17 años comete un delito relacionado con drogas, puede perder su licencia de conducir. La duración de esta pérdida depende de cuántas veces haya infringido la ley.
Es como si un jugador de fútbol recibe una tarjeta roja por una falta; no podrá jugar por un tiempo. En este caso, el joven pierde el derecho a conducir por un tiempo si comete una falta.
Imagina que Juan, de 16 años, es detenido por posesión de marihuana. Como es su primer problema con la ley, el juez puede recomendar que no conduzca por un año. Si Juan vuelve a tener problemas a los 18 años, podría perder su licencia por dos años más.

218A.991 Revocation or denial of operator's license. (1) Whenever a person who is seventeen (17) years of age or younger but not less than fourteen (14) years of age is convicted of a violation of any offense in this chapter or is adjudicated delinquent as a result of any act which would be an offense under this chapter, the court may, in addition to any other penalty: (a) If the person has a motor vehicle or motorcycle operator's license, recommend the revocation of the license for a period not to exceed one (1) year, if it is the person's first offense; (b) If the person has a motor vehicle or motorcycle operator's license, recommend the revocation of the license for two (2) years, if it is a second or subsequent offense so long as the suggested period of revocation does not extend beyond the person's eighteenth birthday; and (c) If the person has no motor vehicle or motorcycle operator's license, in the event of a first offense, recommend that no such license shall be issued to such person for the period described in paragraph (a) of this subsection and in the event of a second or subsequent offense, recommend that no license shall be issued to such person for the period described in paragraph (b) of this subsection. (2) Each court recommending the revocation of a motor vehicle operator's license or motorcycle operator's license or recommending the denial of such license pursuant to this section shall notify the Transportation Cabinet of the violatio
Si no tiene licencia, se le puede negar la emisión de una licencia por un año si es su primer delito, o por dos años si es un segundo delito.
La penalización puede extenderse hasta el cumpleaños número 18 del joven.
El tribunal que recomienda la revocación debe notificar al Departamento de Transporte sobre la infracción.
