Esta ley ayuda a las personas que han perdido a un ser querido por un asesinato en otro estado. Si logran arrestar al criminal, el estado de Illinois puede ayudar a cubrir algunos gastos relacionados con ese proceso.
Es como cuando un amigo se va de viaje y tiene un problema allá. Si tú lo ayudas a resolverlo, a veces puedes pedirle a tus padres que te ayuden a cubrir los gastos que tuviste.
Imagina que Juan, un residente de Illinois, es secuestrado y asesinado en otro estado. Su familia trabaja duro para llevar al asesino ante la justicia y, al final, logran que lo condenen. Gracias a esta ley, pueden solicitar que el estado de Illinois les ayude a cubrir algunos de los gastos que tuvieron en el proceso.
(725 ILCS 110/0.01) (from Ch. 60, par. 50) Sec. 0.01. Short title. This Act may be cited as the Arrest and Conviction of Out of State Murderers Act. (Source: P.A. 86-1324.) (725 ILCS 110/1) (from Ch. 60, par. 51) Sec. 1. Whenever any citizen of this state, or any minor child residing with its parents or guardian in this state, shall heretofore have been, or shall hereafter be, by fraudulent pretenses, enticed or kidnapped and taken out of this state into any other state, and by such enticer or kidnapper or his confederates murdered, and the relatives or parents or guardian of such person, shall have pursued or shall pursue such criminal and procured his arrest and conviction of such crime under the laws of such other state, the reasonable expense incurred in procuring such arrest and conviction in such other state, shall be paid out of the treasury of this state as follows: Any person making claim under the provision of this act shall file a statement of the claim with the several items thereof with the State Comptroller, which claim shall be verified by the oath of the claimant and by record or other satisfactory proof of the conviction of the criminal, and by such other proof as the nature of the case will admit, and such claim and the proofs shall be considered by the governor, Comptroller and attorney general, who shall examine said claim and proof and may require other proof if they judge necessary; and upon being satisfied that said claim or any of the items thereof
La ley puede ayudar a cubrir gastos razonables que se incurrieron para arrestar y condenar al asesino en otro estado.
Cualquier familiar, como padres o guardianes, de la persona que fue asesinada puede presentar el reclamo.
Se debe presentar una declaración de reclamo al Contralor del Estado, junto con pruebas de la condena del criminal.
