Esta ley dice que no puedes hacer rumores malos sobre la situación financiera de un banco. Si lo haces con mala intención, puedes meterte en problemas.

Es como si alguien dijera que un restaurante tiene comida en mal estado solo para que la gente no vaya. Hacer esto puede dañar al negocio y eso no está bien.

Imagina que Juan le dice a sus amigos que el Banco XYZ está a punto de cerrar porque tiene problemas financieros. Si lo hace sabiendo que es falso y con la intención de que la gente retire su dinero, podría enfrentar consecuencias legales.

Penalidades

Puede ser acusado de un delito menor si hace declaraciones negativas intencionales sobre un banco.

(720 ILCS 300/0.01) (from Ch. 17, par. 900) Sec. 0.01. Short title. This Act may be cited as the Derogatory Statements About Banks Act. (Source: P.A. 86-1324.) (720 ILCS 300/1) (from Ch. 17, par. 901) Sec. 1. Any person who shall willfully and maliciously make, circulate, or transmit to another or others, any statements, rumor or suggestion, written, printed or by word of mouth, which is directly or by inference derogatory to the financial condition, with intent to affect the solvency or financial standing of any corporation doing a banking or trust business in this State, or any building and loan association or federal savings and loan association doing business in this State, or who shall counsel, aid, procure or induce another to start, transmit or circulate any such statement, rumor or suggestion, shall be guilty of a Class A misdemeanor: However, the truth of said statement, established by the maker thereof, shall be a complete defense in any prosecution under the provisions of this Act.
