En Colorado, no se puede vender o alquilar películas muy violentas a personas menores de 18 años. Si alguien lo hace, puede recibir una multa bastante alta.

Es como si en una tienda de dulces se prohibiera vender caramelos con ingredientes peligrosos a los niños, para proteger su salud.

Imagina que Juan tiene 16 años y va a una tienda de videos. Si el dueño, Pedro, le intenta alquilar una película que muestra mucha violencia real y no tiene valor artístico, Pedro podría meterse en problemas y recibir una multa.

Penalidades

Si se viola la ley, se enfrenta a una multa de mil dólares, o cinco mil en caso de reincidencia.

C.R.S. 18-7-601 – Dispensing violent films to minors (1) No person shall sell, rent, or otherwise furnish to a minor any video tape, video disc, film representation, or other form of motion picture if: (a) The average person, applying contemporary community standards, would find that the work, taken as a whole, predominantly appeals to the interest in violence; and (b) The work depicts or describes, in a patently offensive way, repeated acts of actual, not simulated, violence resulting in serious bodily injury or death; and (c) The work, taken as a whole, lacks serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value. (2) For the purposes of this section, "minor" means any person under eighteen years of age, and "serious bodily injury" shall be defined as provided in section 18-1-901 (3)(p). (3) Any person who violates subsection (1) of this section is guilty of a civil infraction and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine of one thousand dollars; except that, for a second or subsequent offense, the fine shall be five thousand dollars.
