(a) It is the intent of the Legislature that the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation shall regularly provide to the Legislature information on the outcomes of department operations and activities to allow the Legislature to better assess the performance of the department, including both to evaluate the effectiveness of department programs and activities, as well as to assess how efficiently the department is using state resources. (b) No later than January 10 each year, the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation shall provide to the Joint Legislative Budget Committee an annual report on the outcomes of department operations and activities specified in the supplemental report of the annual Budget Act for the current fiscal year.
