Imagina que Laura vive en Nogales, Sonora, y trabaja en Tucson, Arizona. Ella solicita la tarjeta de identificación para commuters porque viaja diariamente. Laura puede usar su carro mexicano sin tener que registrarlo en Arizona, siempre y cuando se mantenga dentro de los 35 millas de la frontera.
La tarjeta se revoca si se usa el vehículo para viajar fuera del área permitida.
28-2294 . Nonresident daily commuter; identification card; fee (L18, Ch. 260, sec. 13) A. On application and completion of the form prescribed by section 28-2293, the department shall provide a nonresident daily commuter with an identification card that is valid for two years. B. A motor vehicle is exempt from registration by this state if the following conditions are met: 1. The motor vehicle is operated pursuant to subsection A of this section and otherwise in accordance with this article. 2. The motor vehicle is a passenger vehicle or an unladen truck. 3. The motor vehicle is licensed in a contiguous state and is used to commute into this state to a destination within a corridor in this state that parallels the border between this state and the contiguous state and that extends not more than thirty-five air miles into this state from the border at any point. C. The privilege accorded by subsection A of this section is revoked if the motor vehicle is operated for commuter purposes beyond the thirty-five mile corridor. D. The department may charge a fee of not more than eight dollars for each motor vehicle exempt from registration pursuant to this section, as necessary, to recover the costs of administering this article.
Cualquier persona que viva en un estado vecino y viaje diariamente a Arizona para trabajar puede solicitarla, siempre y cuando cumpla con los requisitos establecidos.
